A/C compressor conversion, York to Sanden
#16
Hey Kregger, how cold is your air blowing? I got my system set up, after two a/c shops my AC is still blowing only 77-75 degrees... A little colder going down the road. They replaced the expansion valve. Evacuated the system multiple times and charged it everything time after that. It's getting frustrating and my wallet can't hold much of the abuse anymore! Lol

I'll check tomorrow and post it. Is your 75-77 the vent temperature or ambient temp of the cab?
On mine - the compressor, Condenser, dryer, Expansion Valve and all hoses where new. The only part resused was the Evaporator Core.
Note: I had bought and put a new dryer in when I was assembling the other parts. The shop that did my hose work and chargeup replaced the dryer again noting that Dryers can only be exposed to the open air for less than 1 hour or they will lose their effectiveness. They also said (and I read on this forum) that dryers have to be replaced, they don't clean/evacuate.

Just tested it - 99 degrees outside (32% humidity), 54 degrees coming out of the center vents.
Not sure what to tell you on where to look next. When I was researching the AC I saw that it was critically important to 1) have the right PAG oil for the compressor and 2) the right amount for the system to operate the most efficiently. My compressor had the PAG100 stamped on its label.
I saw your other post (https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...l#post16443489) related to this. I'm not sure how the shop guy found hot air mixing in with the cold. When you switch to A/C from vent do you hear the door swing under the glove box? (vacuum sound)
