a/c compressor
Does anyone have a suggestion on a replacement a/c compressor for my 79 F150? The a/c blows cold but the compressor really drags my engine down. Are there any mods that utilize a more efficient unit?

Sanden 508 is a fairly universal compressor and used in many diferent applications in the automotive industry. A company, whose name I can't remember, makes an adapter plate that bolts to your York mount on the engine and allows the Sanden so be attached to it. Do and Ebay search. The Sanden is a multi-piston rotory compressor and requires less energy to turn then the old York. You will need to have your AC hose ends re-worked to fit to the new compressor and if your system is still running R-12 like mine, the stuff is about $50.00 a pound and your truck holds about 3 lbs.
