location of fuel filter on 2002 E450 cutaway

my bicycle club has a 2002 E-450 with the 7.3 diesel and we can not find the fuel filter to change it. Just need to have a little help locating it.

Thanks

It's on top of the engine behind the air filter/hose. If you remove the air box, slide the hose out of the way, you can barley get at it. There is also a cable operated fuel drain that you need to open first before trying to get the filter out. Good luck, this is not a fun job on a van.

thanks, no wonder we couldn't find it. The last time we had it changed and the labor was $90, so we I figured it wasn't easy.

Some info for your filter change:

Click the image to open in full size.

Note: Some of the new filters come with a square or rectangular cross section o-ring instead of the bevelled one. If you get a bevelled o-ring make sure it is installed right. Also make sure the gland o-ring comes out with the fiter. They sometimes come off when removing the filter and fall to the bottom of the fuel bowl.
