when you pull the filter out look towards the drivers side of the fuel bowl and there will be a hole there. look inside the hole and youll see the screen. as far as changing the filter, just make sure you push the new filter in reallllllly slowly. if you dont, youll shoot fuel out all over the place.

The fuel bowl should be empty when you change the filter, otherwise when you remove and install the new filter the sludge and crap on the bottom of the bowl mixes with your fuel and gets on the "clean" side of the filter.
There's a yellow plastic lever on the right front of the bowl, turn it 90* toward the passenger fender and it opens the drain valve. You might have to remove the lid to break the vacuum to get it to drain.
lol, mine doesn't have a hose...and it drains just a bit to the left or right of wherever i put the catch pan! more or less in the vicinity of the oil drain bolt is where it comes out though
i put clean fuel in the bowl as per previous advice here. it went everywhere when i put the new filter in. it was lots of fun :P
also i've decided i like napa filters better than autozone filters. in general, if it costs more, my truck likes it better
Open the drain valve
Remove the Filter bowl lid.
once fuel is drained out remove filter.
Replace with new filter.
Replace lid.
Close Drain valve.
Start truck.
If the drain does not want to drain after the lid is removed.
Replace the lid and close the valve.
Start the truck.
Carefully open drain valve. (stay out of moving pulleys)
Verify fuel pressure is forcing fuel out the drain valve.
Close the valve.
Shut off truck.
Go back to step 1 of this post and perform those steps. The bowl should drain now.

i never thought about that. on my fuel filter box it said to install slowly so you dont spill fuel everywhere, but it does make more sense to just drain it first.
