Thank goodness I read this thread. I was contemplating putting one on my 2013 FX4. I was worried about the turbos but I put 50k a year on my trucks and thought the possible fuel economy gains would be worth it. Apparently not.

I had an AFE Cold Air Kit on my 11 6.7 Super Duty for 50k+ miles with no problem what so ever. I will be putting one on my EB when the weather gets warmer. The key is to maintain it like they say. You dont over oil it and dont let it get dirty just like the factory one. I kept a very close eye on the inlet tube and it was always squeaky clean. Just my .02

This thread brings back memories of my diesel! I don't really like K&N but there are others out there. I had an Afe on my 05 ford diesel and loved it. It dropped my EGT's and never let dirt through. Had that truck for 6 years and no turbo issues. Clean it proper and often. I was always on dusty Forrest roads too. I like the AFE Stage 2 for the 2013 ecoboost. I think I will get one of those!

I'm going to chime in for whats its worth.I owned a 1998 f150 with a 5.4. Installed a K&N after I had truck for few months kept filter cleaned and oiled properly, after 14 years of highway and Farm use and with 235000 miles, . I never had any dirt issues in intake tract,No MAF issues and truck still used no oil between changes when I sold it and bought an F350 with v10 and will probably install a K&N filter on it.

I used a K&N on my 2002 7.3 PSD for 10 years. I cleaned and oiled it every 25K when I changed the fuel filter and my stock airbox was always spotless behind the filter. I used that truck for hunting so it was almost always in the dirt and many times had corn stalks from Kansas stuck to the outside of the filter from Pheasant season. I also have K&N on my ATV's, no problems there either.

I upgraded to AFE Pro Guard 7 for my 2012 6.7 PSD and it's been fine for 10K so far. I'll clean it at 22.5K when the fuel filters get swapped out.
