White smoke
Coming back from the race track the truck was running good cruising at about 75, when I got back to where there are red lights I stoped at a red light and when I took off it seemed like the motor got real quiet and puffed some white smoke, but then ran good again, then when I got into my town it started to smoke all the time. I pulled it into the garage and shut it off and restarted it and it pours out white smoke from the exhaust. HELP!

Sounds like am EGR cooler is blown. SMell the exhaust - if it smells "sweet" like anti-freeze - that's the issue. If it smells like fuel, you've got other problems.
The low water is pretty much a give away though. You'll want to take care of it very soon. Clogged oil cooler usually causes the blown EGR cooler. Don't drive it with loads, in fact, I wouldn't drive it at all until you get it fixed.
Good stuff here to look at to get more educated.
Symptoms of a Bad EGR Cooler
There's a ton of stuff on the forum, it's a common issue with the 6.0. Mine blew right after I bought my truck-could hardly see anyone behind me. Spent two weekends fixing it. A pro can get it done in a day, but you better have some $aving$ on hand.

Looks like he has an 06
Cheezit is going to be DEAD ON the MONEY
you risk Head Gasket and or Hydrolock Issues with this Failure A Gauge is a MUST for the 6.0L
Get a ScanGaugeII you can keep an eye on this next time and address it before the EGR Cooler Bursts
There is a diagnostic procedure to verify the Health of the system that has Failed on your truck
This would be a Good time to install a few updated parts as well as DOM Mentioned
And 98% of the time EGR Cooler failure is because the Oil Cooler is Plugged inside ON the Coolant side of the Oil Cooler From these possibilities= Golden Goo from Ford Gold coolant however there is some debate on this (Also why I mention a ELC or Extended Life Coolant that CAT EC-1 Rated preferably Silicate Free) Or From Casting Sand from casting process of rthe Block and also from Lack of Cooling system Maintenance
So I will add a Coolant filter and ELC to the List
With Proper Repair of the oil cooler Meaning that the Cooling system Needs Repeated Flushing with Cleaners and water flushing till Clear adition of a coolant filter there are Not many repeat Failures.
Iv seen guys change 3-4 oil coolers and Mad as all get out Badmouthing Ford for design BUT when it came right down to it they Did NOT Address the ROOT CAUSE and had repeat Failures
If you take to a shop for repair you might want to Flush Cooling system on your own Because Alot of shops wont do the repeated Cooling system Flushes. LOTS of Folks get Bitten by this Its one of those deals the shop knows over time the Oil Cooler will Plug again and you will Be Back
The Best thing you can do at this point is research Bullet proofing the truck and address things so dont have to do this again. Your Model year Needs these other things addressed

The fan is probably coming on strong due to excessive oil temps because of a clogged oil cooler. The clogged oil cooler also caused your EGR cooler to fail due to restricted or no coolant flow to the EGR cooler allowing it to over heat. I would not drive as you run the risk of hydro locking the motor, which could lead to more serious and costly problems.
