EGT Gauge off the charts.

I have a 2002 F350 with 170,000+ miles on it. It has an edge performance attitude box on it and the egt values go from 200 to 2000 randomly while driving then will randomly decrease back to normal. Need a little help, I have already adjusted the probe to make sure it wasnt just loose.

I'd suspect a bad probe.

Other option is to run in stock power and see what you get as well.

very nicely put.

most people would say edge products are #$%## crap and S%^& built by A$%#%^&S that are more concerned with making money than making a working product.

first thing i would do is mount a stand alone pyrometer and see what the EGT's are actually doing.

So I ran it in stock mode all night yesterday and the egt gauge did not spike once. Would you say there is just a problem with the gauge??

Is it spiking when you are driving at a fixed RPM?

If running in stock mode and you do not see spikes, I would think the gauge function is correct. That may not be the case, but makes for sense. Right now it sounds like your tunes are not playing so well. A more detailed description of what is going on and what you are doing at the time is needed though.

There is no way EGT's will go from 200 to 2000 without major issues in the truck. You would feel something was wrong. Gauge or probe is bad.

It spikes at all different time, somethings it will spike at a fixed rpm, other times it will while braking or coasting down a hill. Its so random that it doesnt do it at certain times.

It has now began to spike during stock power mode. While driving it spiked and the engine started to sound really funny as if it was reving up really weird. The EGT gauge also went off while i was idling in park?

Does your box have a juice add on? Sounds like your box is going bad, and the juice is messing with the ICP values. I still dont believe you have an issue with the truck, just the power adder.

I had a similar problem with my trans temp gauge - Would jump around erraticly when hitting bumps - The problem wound up being the molex plug at the sensor. I cut that out and put on some good crimp connectors on, and hav'nt had a problem since . That was over a year ago. ( I tried 2 new sensors first and did'nt help) Just something easy to check. Could be a loose connection at gauge also.

The EGT gauge reads hot while coasting downhill?!? Dude - connection, gauge, or probe. The troubleshooting is done.

Thanks everyone for the help, overall consensus looks like the gauge is junk or bad probe or connection!!
And yes it does have a juice add on it!
