Dome light still stays on after replacing switches..
I know there have been several threads that have covered this issue but none of them have worked for me. So here is my issue....
I have an 2001 F350 cc 4x4 7.3 w/ manual tranny. I bought the truck 8 months ago and it has been a great truck except for a few issues here and there.
I recently replaced all the door jam switches and No. 1 relay after all the other fixes failed, such as spraying with WD40, contact cleaner, high air pressure hose than open and close repeatedly, and still the dome lights remain on. If the truck has been started and is going faster than 10-15 MPH, then it will stay off until the truck has been turned off than it will immediately come back on. The door ajar light does not come on, I see it in the right shade of light but I think it is burned out.
Some threads have suggested replacing the GEM ( General Electric Module ) but everything else electrically seems to work fine except for the ABS light that comes on periodically.
So here is where I am looking for help,
Is there anything else I can look at or inspect other than the GEM ? ( that repair would be a little above my pay grade for the time being )
Is there a way I can modify the relay and put a on /off switch on it and mount it on the fuse access panel below the steering wheel ?
If there are any other ideas out there I would be grateful for them.
Thanks

How about the switch build into dashboard dimmer?
In both my truck the light relay failed and I pulled it out, made couple of wires with spade connectors that goes into relay big sockets and install a switch on the dashboard.
When you open the fuse box under the steering wheel, it is top left corner relay.

I did have a switch in my storage. Any switch will work, but the one that require small hole is the easiest. On my F450 I did have hole that PO made for something, so the switch went there. On F250 I left the switch hanging on the wires behind the lower panel. Can't make my mind where to put it and don't want to drill a hole I might regret.
