My V10 Loves Ethanol-free Gas
Took a road trip last weekend. When I went to fill up the tank, I found a gas station that sold pure gas and gave it a try.
Wow, what a difference. The truck felt smoother off the line and the power came on more "linear". Now I really hate ethanol. If they sold pure gas anywhere near where I live, I'd go out of my way to fill up with the stuff.

I think a lot of it has to do with the engine calibrations. Me and Fredvon4 always said our trucks never noticed, and usually got the highest mileage of anyone here, using E10. We both have/had the same engine calibration code.
Someone should ping Mike@5-star and let him weigh in on this, but I do remember him saying he would adjust my tunes for E10...

We travel all over the country pulling our trailer and there is so much variation in fuel that it's hard to tell from E10 to pure regular. Put I can tell you that the gas blended on the east and west coast in the heavily populated areas have some of the worst fuel and has the poorest performance. Now that most places have had E10 for awhile and their tanks are cleaned out at our expense I really can't tell that much difference between E10 and regular in our travels. But now that we are back in the Midwest at 2K feet burning E10 that is a blend of regular and 10% ethanol added to make 89 octane not 87 like in Florida and the east and west coast where they leave something out the truck runs smooth and strong just like last year when we left. I also can't tell that much difference in the two as far as mileage but I burn E10 when ever available and have for the last 20 years.

We are down to only one gas station in town that offers ethanol free gas and it is only in mid-grade. I have been using it on every fillup since the fall. Truck does seem to run smoother as Onug stated. I have not seen any significant increase in mpg's, but I do like how the truck runs. It is worth the extra 10 cents/gal to me.
However, with camping season here, i'm getting ready to switch to the 91 tow tune on my 5-Star tuner. This means I will be forced to go back to ethanol blend for the summer. Argh!
