Dana 60 widths?

Local CL ad shows a dana 60 from a '78/79 F250. If my memory serves me, these were different than the dana 60's of the 73-early 77 F250's.

Anyone know the measurements?

As far as spring pad width they are the same but they are a low pinion axle.

Very different, certainly when it comes to price, the earlier LP 60's are worth about 50 bucks, if that, while the later HP 60's typically sell for over a grand.

Here's the ad I was looking at. DANA 60 REAR AXLE

My thinking was that since the frames were different, the rear would be different as well. I'd guess 65" wms to wms on the '78/79, but would the "high-boy" be as wide?

there were no high pinion rear 60's on our trucks, only low pinion. I think you are thinking about the front axles.

you already got your answer... spring pad widths are different, according to frame width, but hub to hub are the same.

The OP didn't state front or rear until later in the thread, when someone asks about a 78/79 Dana 60 i presume they mean a front 60

as to the OP's original question, Dana 60's were 16 spline up through '75 serial# W20,001 then changed over to 30 spline.
