New member, new truck, excited to get started!

Hello everyone, I just picked up a 1977 F250 "Highboy" and I was eager to get signed up and start posting. My dad had one when I was little so it was quite the moment to finally get one of my own to share with my kids. She's rough and it will be a long road but I am excited to have her. Just picked it up a couple days ago and me and my son have already went thru and clean it up and made a list of things to target first. It has 76700 original miles and spent its life in Southern Indiana on farms with 2 previous owners before me. The last 17 years i t was hauling coal and firewood. Bone stock with the exception of a paint job from the 1st owner and the 16" rims by the 2nd. 2nd owner has had the seat recovered. Take a look, I will post more pics as I get started. Right now it will be something that we make hardware store runs in and probably at least once a week around town or to work trips. Limited time and funds with 4 kids but the look on my sons face when I picked him up in it was worth it. We have been talking about working on a truck together since he could speak [IMG][IMG][IMG][/IMG][/IMG][/IMG]

Well it looks like it will be a fun truck. I don't think it is a highboy because it has a 400 in it.

I am doing some checking on that this week. It does have the divorced transfer case and a couple other "tell" signs. Gonna check the vin to see what it really is. Just sharing the info that was passed along to me. Don't care either way just wanted an old ford 4wd to play with.

Congrats! I got my first "classic" Ford a little over a week ago...certain life events forced it to become my daily driver, and it's already been an adventure. I don't owe money on it, so I don't mind dumping money into it! I can't wait to tear into the engine.

Thanks guys! We are excited about what it can become. Just spent a few minutes on here checking the vin and all signs point to one of the last few months of highboys. Best part was learning it was made right down the road from us in Louisville,Ky. The plant is about 15 min from the house. Also we scored some turbine mags/ hurricanes today on craigslist. Not the first thing we needed but it sure is gonna make it look good. My work has me in Carlisle PA at the end of the month so I hope to find some good things at the show. Lot of Ford Motor Company history in the family so it makes it very fun talk about. Especially with Grandpaw. He had 37 years in there.

That is cool that you live so close. Sorry about confusing you, man 1977 confuses the crap out of me.

Restomod I believe. It's all original so I want to retain that as best I can but still making it a functional truck that we are not afraid to go haul wood or what in it. Really don't have many plans for it at this point other than putting some bigger tires on and taking care of the much needed body work. How about you guys that just picked up one too? What's your plans?

I am trying to get it set to simply pass NY S inspection. Once I drive it around this summer, I will use it occasionally until my Monte and GTO restorations are complete...then I will tear into this one and keep it stock appearing and build a killer 390 engine for it....

oh forgot, mine is the lt blue color...not too keen on it so a factory 76 color will take its place
