Rebuilt E40D still not acting perfectly

I rebuilt my E40D a couple of weeks ago with new clutches, seals, TransGo reprogramming kit, and converter.

I'm not totally happy with the way it shifts. Its seems as though it is shifting at lower speeds than before. For example, it shifts into OD at about 45mph when it used to do it at about 50+mph. I know that isn't much, but they are all like that. This could make a difference when I need to pull something.

Another thing is that the shifts aren't always smooth (stock-like). One time it kind of slowly slides into the next gear, and the next time it shifts kind of hard. It's sparatic.

It has to be an issue with the solenoid, main control body, or accumulator, but I'm not an expert.

One more thing: When I'm shifting into reverse from park, it takes about two second for the gear to engage. I manually shift into reverse...a second later, I hear the tranny shift...a second later, the tranny engages, and it will move under idle power. What's the deal?

The computer makes the decisions on when to shift. There is nothing inside the transmission that determines when to shift.

That's not unusual for an E4OD. They have a slow, two stage reverse engagement.

I think bulldogcountry meant that the harshness of the shift is determined within the transmission itself.
