Leveling Kit

I am just wondering if these are worth my money. My brother has one in his truck and about six months later ended up replacing tie rod ends and ball joints. Is this the cause of the leveling kit or just bad luck. I am looking to put in a 2 inch leveling kit. I just what some thought on it. Thanks

The ball joints and tie rod ends on his truck were bad before he put the leveling kit on. Leveling kits dont change the suspension geometry enough to wear them out that fast. If I were you, I would at least go with a 2.5" kit that way if you want to go all the way up to 35 inch tires then you will be able to.

I have read of a few people having issues with front suspension within 6-12 months and claim it is from leveling kits. It changes some of the front geometry but not enough to wear things out that quick. I have had my kit on for almost 2 years now and have had no issues at all and I have a 3" kit and most people say the highest to go to is 2.5".

I agree with Clint that the problem was there before he just had not noticed it yet.

I've had my 2" leveling kit on for 36,000 miles and haven't had any negative effects yet.

Had my 2" kit for probably 100k now with no know issues directly attributable to the kit. That said, I recently replaced with Rancho Quick-Lift struts so proceeded to get an (expensive) allignment at 4WheelParts, at which point it was determined that there was "some" tie rod wear on the driver's side and I decided it worth going ahead and replacing to get the most out of the new alignment. with 122k total miles, I cannot say the kit affected it at all, or at least not significantly. Got a 2" A/S kit available for sale!! Actually posted in FTE Classifieds.

I have a leveling kit on my truck. 3 inch in the front and 2 1/2 in the back. I have had one ball joint go. However, when I was talking to the mechanic replacing it, he told me its because of the larger rims I put on it. It happens to all vehicles (sometimes) onces larger rims are put on. The same thing happened to his G35. Saying that, I have only had one go so far.

I hope this helps.
