Easy ways to improve mileage?

Looks like your truck is an 08 there is a change to lower front air dam that came out in later productions that is supposed to help a little. If you can, drive with your tail gate down or off, limit idleing and truck warm up time your better to just drive the truck easy than let it idle for 30 minutes just to warm it up. If you want your truck warm in the winter your better to plug it in, just the little things i could think of without any mods.

Change the airbox and delete the DPF or have it towed. Its a moving Brick. Not going to ever get 40 mpg's.
I did notice a slight increase when in mpg when I changed out the airbox only which was a little bit of a surprise. I am deleting my DPF this weekend finally now that its out of warranty.

I too have an 08 long bed crew. Plus I have dual rear wheels and a 4.30 rear axle. Soooo, i developed this program to deal with fuel mileage.
1. Install a bigger fuel tank. mine is 60 gallons but 100 would be better. That increases the time between fill ups.
2. Never glance up at the numbers on the pump during refill. Just keep yur eyes down even when you hang up the hose.
3. Never look at the receipt. Just tear it off and stick it in your pocket or hand it to the co-pilot.
4. If someone ask you about fuel mileage just look at them smugly and suggest that if they can't afford fuel they should consider a ranger.
it worked well for me until I deleted. Which by the way yielded only about a 10% increase in MPG. But a 500% increase in truck performance. Hope this helps.

if you looked at your slips, you'd know a 10% gain could lead to thousands of dollars in your ownership duration of the truck.that's a massive improvement.
i drive very well.i can't for the life of me get decent economy from this (she's my old mans, and i only borrow her when there is no other option cus she is just so thirsty) '08 6.4 srw truck.on winter blend and keeping her around 45-50 im doing very good to make that lie-o-meter hit 11.-empty!
the issue is,the speed limits around here are only 45 mainly.so shes taching 2k+ because i cant go fast enough to keep her in top gear!!!!! i have to speed 50-55 to make her hold onto od.what the heck!
she'd shoot up in mpg's for my driving style i bet if she housed the 4.30's instead of whatever high gears are in there now because i bet she'd enter od and stay there at 40-45?
this trans acts like it has no economy mode to it at all compared to my E40D.it's like in heavy duty high tach out tow mode even with the button off.it's not cool.
these 6.4l trucks are imho, for towing heavy all the time only trucks.the word economy just doesn't belong in the same sentence of 6.4l diesel.
if i set this truck up like mine (dually w/large dump) = forget it.might as well just buy an old 460 truck and call it good.
you know it's sad when an old IDI without a turbo or intercooler trumps a modern diesels FE.granted emissions free, but still.

I got 10% or maybe a bit more. There are some guys on here claiming a lot better improvement with the high HP tunes. I'm skeptical because there are more who like me got just a modest increase. But like somebody above said, 10% adds up over time.

My brother and I are both seeing pretty significant gains on our deleted trucks. Around town I went from 360-380 miles per tank (30 gallon tank) to roughly 440-450. On long road trips, it isnt hard to do 530-550 miles out of a tank. This is running the 275HP Late Lock tune on the Spartan. Cruising down the interstate now, I have to try to get the boost over 5 psi. Love it!
