I have a 2003 F-350 Super Duty Dually with a 6.0 Diesel. I started the truck and it was running fine (parked). All of a sudden, it accelerated by itself to 1000RPM. I turned off the truck and now it won't crank or start. Everything else works, batteries are good, starter is good. Any ideas on what could be the problem?

 

What happens when you use the cable on the passenger fender and connect to the positive battery terminal?

 

See if you get fuel filling up the secondary fuel filter bowl when you turn the key on.
Check fuse 22.
Turn the key on and verify that the back-up lights come on.

 

What am I missing? I thought it was common for the engine to up its RPM a minute or so after starting cold, maybe depending on the weather?

 

Yeah - its is no-crank that he seems to have now that is his issue.
