No spark, what gives?

I've been trying to get my truck started for two days to move it into the driveway as it's been parked on the street for a long time now. I am not driving it because of the high cost of insurance, once I get a job, that will change.
(Going to school right now, I don't want to try to juggle both)

So I poured some gas down my new Edlebrock Carb & it didn't fire. The truck does turnover, and I am getting gas. A vehicle takes 3 things to start, ignition, spark & gas. My neighbor is a very nice man, he was a mechanic for 35 years and owns a GMC dealership not far from our house. I asked him to take a quick look at it for me as he knows more about it than I do. So I cranked it over & we checked for spark, none. He says I need to get the schematic. He said my truck has a HEI system & the module could also be out. I told him I will find out what I can. His wife then came out & said it was time for dinner. So I thanked him & he went inside. Can you guys help me out? The truck has a Duralast Ignition Control Module. (I know because I have the receipt for it, & it's not that old.) It's got a 40,000 volt High Performance Pertronix Flame Thrower coil. Which is also not very old. My questions are:
1) How do I get spark again?
2) How do I test to see why I'm not getting spark? (I do have a tester)
3) What schematic do I need?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you guys in advance.

Just got a notice from Code Enforcement stating "Remove Christmas lights from house" & "Remove white truck from public view if non op"
I'm scared the next thing they are going to do is tow my truck. I need to get it started so I can back it into the driveway. I didn't want to have problems with CE. I am never going to live in the suburbs when I buy my own house, I want to buy some property & have as much trucks there as I want. Put up a big gate so no one can see.

just a suggestion

Step one. See if auto zone can check your module and coil. If both are ok then check the cap and rotor button and wires. . If still no fire then it may be the magnetic pick up in the distributor. Hope this helps.

please don't take this wrong ... do you own a tow rope? perhaps an old tire you could use to push it into your driveway?

getting it off the street is the priority at this point, i would think. like you said, the next "notice" will cost you money to get it out of impound.

not sure if your HP coil came with, or was used with the correct resistor, but a hot coil can burn up a stock Duraspark in short order, so it is a posibility.

I love living in the country ... i've had the same christmas lights on my porch for 3 years now ... they dont work any more, but hey .... im a redneck, what do you expect.

someday i hope to hang an engine from a tree in my front yard ... gotta have goals!

are you getting fire from your ignition switch to your coil. Turn the ignition switch on and put a test lite on the positive side of the coil the light should come on. If not i would check the ignition switch

I will do as Beagle & roy123 suggested tomorrow or as soon as the rain clears up.
meborder, not a issue buddy, I don't have a vehicle big enough to push my truck, it's much larger than most of the vehicles in my neighborhood. & pushing the truck was a suggestion, but that's hard on my back & all my friends who help.

Wow, I never knew until now I could put 33 BFG All Terrain Tires on the rear of my stock 2WD '74 F-250 Super-Cab. I got one on there & no issues, still plenty of clearance. I couldn't get the passenger side tire off 'cos it has a anti-theft lug nut on & I don't have the key & I don't want to break it off at the moment. Still couldn't get it started. Question for '73-'75 owners with the fuel tank selector valve on the floor, which position is the Aux (Mid ship tank) & which is the Main tank (rear tank)? I pushed the truck in the driveway, so all is good.

I have a question for you, have you tried to find where you loose spark (or power)?

I had a bad battery in my truck a while back, and the truck had enough juice to turn over but not start. I tried a variety of things to get it to start until the battery was totally dead. I charged the battery but I still wasn't able to start the truck after a lot of trying. I changed everything in the ignition system to no avail. As a last resort I have a spare duraspark and swapped the spare in. To my shock it started right up. I was told that if you run your battery out of juice the duraspark gets out of sink and messes up the timing somehow. I replaced the spare with my old duraspark and there wasn't any change after the truck had started. You also may have a bad duraspark, but at least they are cheap.
