So this is my delima.... truck was running great -- then one day it would not start -- so I took the chevy -- then came back the next day and it started right up -- so I drove it down for new tires and some other stuff -- parked it and later that day it would not start again I had to take the chevy -- next day went to take the ford --- it started right up and sounded great -- 5 min in to my drive it went dead! it died like it had an electrical issue -- got it towed back to the house and checked spark -- no spark to be found --- hummmmm so I changed the cap rotor and plugs also changed out the ignition module and coil --- still no spark -- I have power to the primary side of the coil but no spark! any one have an idea about this? I found one of the large fuses in the motor compartment that was blown, but that may have been from me messing with the distrubtor and other wires -- going to try replaceing fuse tomorrow and try one more ignition module.....
Given what you have already replaced and the fact that you are getting power to the coil, the PIP(profile ignition pickup) inside the distributor is about the only thing left it could be. You have to remove and disassemble the distributor to replace the PIP. You could replace the distributor with a rebuilt, but I definitely don't recommend it, as the rebuilt distributors are of very poor quality.
You guys freaken rock --- pulled the distributor and tried to pull the pip but ended up efing up the thing so I just bought a rebuilt one and bingo that was it --------- Thanks and 125 vergins to all of you
