Confirm hard line size for Brakes and Fuel..

All,

I'm getting ready to order bulk stainless tube and connectors for my brakes and fuel lines.

Is it OK to use 3/8" for both the brakes and fuel line?

Truck is a mostly 79 crew cab 4x4 with 460 and C6.

Thanks.

3/8 is way to big for brake lines, for brake lines use like 3/16

Agree as posted... 3/8" fuel and 3/16" brake lines as original.

The 3/8" line would not hold the +/- 1000 PSI of the brake system.

SS brake lines are a "bear" to flare and seal. It takes a high end flaring tool to make the double flare and even then they can be hard to seal because the ss is so hard the fittings don't seat as well. A standard "better" quality parts store flaring kit won't do it.

If you want ss brake lines I'd suggest a pre-made set from Inline tube. Cost is pretty reasonable, fuel lines also.

Personally, I stick with steel. Its easier to work with, lower cost and original lasted >30 years in my case.

Thanks guys.

I had access to nearly free bulk 3/8 tube and was hoping to use it for all hard line. I'll go ahead and buy the proper 3/16" for the brakes.
