Rear wiper 2002 Ford Excursion

My rear wiper was leaving big areas on the rear window when it would swipe over the glass. I though it was a bad wiper blade. Just bought a new one last night and it is still not working. It is leaving a large spot almost at the 12/1 oclock position on the window. Any ideas? The arm assembly is pretty tight, I can wiggle it a little. I took the black cap off wherre the arm attaches to the motor and the nut is tight.....

The spring not strong enough? Or did the arm get bent slightly outward?

I found out that my pivot on the arm was really stiff. I took the arm off and lubed the daylights out of it till it pivoted freely again. It's a heck of a lot better than it was, it just sort of sucks now rather than being completely worthless.

Mine does the same thing. Bent the arm every which way but it made no difference. I think it has more to do with using a straight blade on curved glass.

My solution was to remove the wiper arm & file/grind those 2 tabs. A new or stronger spring wont make any difference, because of the poor design.

Yeah, don't waste your money on buying a new arm either. I did that hoping to solve this problem, but it was exactly the same.

When I had a Jeep, I stumbled across an extra tensioning spring that you could add to the wiper, don't know if they would work or not:

Snuggies - Jeep Windshield Wiper Arm Tensioner

windshield wiper arm tensioner - Google Search

Mine doesn't seem to have a problem clearing water, but it does have a hard time successfully washing the whole window from salt spray. I get a spot in the center of the wiper path that doesn't really get cleaned.
