Passenger door jamb switch

Passenger door jamb switch
I posted a few days ago about my keypad light on the drivers door remaining lit when it shouldn't be. Found out it was the passenger door jamb switch not functioning correctly and the truck thought the passenger door was open.
Dealer replaced the door jamb switch and said problem solved....not really.
Here's what I've found out -
With the key out of the ignition, opening of the passenger door isn't recognized by the truck 99% of the time. The dome light/parking lights are not turned on. Every now and then it does work as it should.
With the key turned to the run position, opening of the passenger door is recognized by truck all the time and everything works as it should.
I tested the door jamb switch and wiring to the BCM and all is working perfectly regardless of key position. I can not find anything wrong with the switch or wiring from the switch to the BCM. Every time the passenger door is opened it provides ground (-) to the plug at the BCM.
I talked with the dealer again and they said I could bring it back and they would check it again. I really don't want to drop it off with the dealer for a couple days again and not have anything actually fixed. I don't mind performing the work myself, even it costs me a couple dollars. At least I can keep my truck and use it when needed.
Anyone have any ideas? Maybe a programming issue? Could the actual BCM itself be bad and create this single issue and everything else work as it should?
It's really odd that the problem isn't constant. I originally thought it must be a short in the wires somewhere but that doesn't seem to be the case.
I also can't seem to find any certain sequence of events that makes the problem occur every time. It works right when it feels like it or the key is on, otherwise it's a toss up as to what will happen.
Sorry for the long post and Thanks for any input.
If I can't figure it out I guess I'll have to take it back to the dealer....
