Help installing backseat headrests

Hey guys, My 01 350 did not come with headrests in the back bench seat in my crew cab. My father was recently in a rear-end collision, and the headrest saved him from a broken neck. I am looking at going to the auto wrecker's and finding some headrests that should fit. Do you guys have any idea of the structure within the seat itself? Steel, where it is ect. Any help would be awesome!

Thanks.

My best option I've come up with has been to find a new seat and swap it in from a newer year, or find fronts but that still leaves the middle without the headrest.

I'm in the same boat as you.

I don't mind the middle not having a headrest due to it rarely being used. However the other two backseats are vital. A shame nobody has had these seats apart.

i dont think you should expect to add just headrests..

theres gotta be some inner structure your back seat frame wont have, that attachs and supports the headrests.

basicly ur gunna need to replace the entire rear seats.

do the newer seats swap directly into the older trucks? could you just replace the back rest part? this is in an extended correct?

I was hoping there would be some steel frame in there, that way I could take the material off and weld up some brackets. Budget is tight this month.

i would think you can do that it seems like you wouldnt have and issue with that that was my first thought as well, are the new seats like that anyway? or are they adjustable? because if they are fixed then they are probably welded like your thinking of doing

No matter what I need to do something! Very dangerous when rear-ended, especially with the drivers around here in the winter...

i agree! if it is a simple weld on thing i might go for it as well because i always have people in the back of my truck and this would be a simple mod to do

I don't know what it looks like but if you want I can snap a picture of the back of mine after I pick it up from the body shop today. Its really easy to remove all you do is pit your hand between the bottom cushion and back Brest and lift up, do thtlat on both sides and its out.

Nice to know that it's easy! How about getting the material off? Seems like it shouldn't be too difficult.

it shouldnt be, my truck ened up getting stuck at the shop until either tomorrow or wednesday but i know the bottom is only held on by clips that attach to the metal bars, im not sure about the top however i think it might be the same thing.
