02 4.6 F150 Code Question - #1 plug fouled

2002 4.6 F150
101,000 Miles

pulled the code, said #1 plug dead or misfiring - dont have the code or the exact lookup. I ended up replacing the plug and coil for cylinder #1. CE light goes out and everything is fine for about 7K miles. CE light comes on again, same code. The engine idles ok and doesn't seem to have any power loss. Is it possible I'm getting this code because I used an aftermarket coil over plug? Could there be another reason this same code is coming up again?

P0401 is the code, same as before.

I haven't pulled the plug yet.

Did you clear the codes after you replaced the coil and plug?

P0401 is insufficient EGR flow.

This is what you need to do to fix your problem. You need to remove the intake spacer, it's the part that your throttle body and your egr valve attach to. There are 2 holes on the throttle body end that get stopped up. I took my throttle body off then removed my egr and then the spacer. That way I could give everything a good cleaning. If you have problems getting the line off of the egr leave it attached and just remove the mounting bolts, you will have plenty of room to clean the egr mounting surface. The egr pressure feedback sensor mounts on the drivers' side of the engine forward of the egr. It has an electrical plug and 2 vacuum hoses going to it, real easy to get to. If that sensor is made of metal it's going to be bad, if it's black plastic it's probably ok. it sounds like a lot of work but, by the time you get all of the airfilter housing and stuff off it's pretty much easy to get to.
