Shackle Help!

Putting new bushings in the shackles. But the shackle has this weird sleeve that won't allow the bushing to fit in.

Do I force in the bushing or remove this so it fits better?

It needs to come out, the sleeve should have rubber around it. that looks like a larger sleeve does your shakle bolt fit snug in that?

No, it had rubber in between that and another sleeve then the bolt inside that. I just didn't know if this was part of the shackle of the old bushing.

I'm pretty sure it needs to be removed but i would say wait for another opinion. If you are using poly bushings they should slide right in and even get a little grease to keep them moving.

That is the outer sleeve of the bushing. I carefully sawed mine in a couple spots for easier removal. I tried to push mine out with a socket and got the socket stuck. Be careful if you try it that way.

Kinda hard to see from this pic
but it has a heavy duty panel/muffler cutter on the top while the bottom is rounded

I have one of these from snap-on
they list it as a control arm bushing cutter
works great on all sorts of things
