2wd c6 to 4wd c6

yeah I searched. It helped. Just want to make sure I'm ok to do what I plan before I tear it apart.

Got my truck back together. Runs great. Put a bigger motor in it. Well hell, now my tranny is slipping.

With this motor I picked up I got a super low milage 2wd C6 out of a t-bird with 17,000 miles. The thing is super clean.

I want to put this trans into my 77 f250 4x4. Is all I need to do pull the 4x4 trans I've got, pull the tail shaft housing and tail shaft and install them into my 2wd trans? Simple as that?

I'd rather put this good tranny to use than blow money and down time having mine rebuild or rebuilding it myself. Either way I need to get this turd out of the truck before it leaves me stranded.

Thanks.

Yes, those are the only two parts you need to change.

The hard part is that EVERYTHING comes out of the transmission to change the output shaft.

No reason to not go through it all at that point, clutch drums, etc. You are going to have it completely apart anyways. Don't forget to check the end play when your done. Make sure the case you are using has the 2 bolt holes for the neu/rev switch if you need the switch on the case for your truck. Some cases don't have the bolt holes for the switch. You don't want to find that out after your all done. Clean your lines and cooler real good, you don't want the left over crap pumped right into your new trans. Also clean that rear shaft out real good before putting it back in, it holds quite a bit of the old fluid.

K thanks for the heads up on the safety switch issue. I'll verify that before I get into it.
