Any Ideas? 2008 F-250 Ticking sound

Hey guys, I need some advice/ideas! I have a 2008 F-250 6.8L. Im from florida and the truck is mostly in warm weather! But right now im up north and every morning/afternoon, when ever the truck is cold and i start it up I have a very loud ticking sound. It sounds like its might be coming from the front of the engine. Maybe the belt or the fan but i cant tell? but the tricky part is that it only makes that sound when its really cold out. As soon as the temperature is below 50 it makes that sound. After I drive it for awhile (a few miles) it goes away and sounds perfect! but im florida Ive never heard it unless it was really cold out. but now its every morning and afternoon now that im in Georgia and its 30 degress or less every morning!

Any Ideas?

Check for broken or loose exhaust manifold studs. Depending on the mileage on your truck, they could still be under warranty.

X2. Worth getting looked at. My 08 had a couple rusted off exhaust manifold bolts and a warped manifold. All replaced under the 5/60 emissions warranty. If I had to pay, it would have been around $1000.

X3 I had my drivers side go out at 33,000. Fixed under warantee. I think that since this was the first run of the new heads with the one piece spark plugs there may be an assembly glich, not torqued properly possibly.

I agree with what several others have posted. Sounds like an exhaust leak. When the manifolds heat up they expand and seal off the leak. Sounds like a minor leak but not something I would let go.

My 2008 SD had cracked exhaust manifolds at a out 105,000 miles.
