SHORT BED

SHORT BED
I have read that if you have a short bed you need a 5er. slide hitch, if you dont want to bump the 5er. with the cab, but what are really the size of a SHORT bed?
For instance I have a SC "short bed" (IIRC 8'), do I need a slide hitch? Or there is only needed if you have a CC with a VERY short bed (like some new models I have seen)?
Thanks in advance.

I have a short bed 2011 SD , and a slider hitch. I have never had to slide it back, I can turn right 90 degrees with no problems. My hitch was mounted about 2in in front of the axle.
You might as well get a slider version....and if you need to move it you can.
Another option I wish I had was the tilt side-to-side. At my summer location, it is at a slant, and I have to block up the one side of my truck to make it level for unhooking and hooking up.
I suppose it would depend on the make and shape of your 5er.
