motor swap head questions

motor swap head questions

ok i have a 93 f150 with the original 5.0 in it and the motor gave out and bout a year ago my buddy gave me the 5.0 motor out of a 88 f150 and im trying to figure out which heads are better the ones out of the 93 or the ones out of the 88 id like to know which ones would be better thanks for all the help

I think they both will have E 7 heads , if not use the 93 heads...

Lew is correct, both engines have E7 heads unless someone has done a head swap on either of them in the past. They should be identical.

sell the 88 5.0 and get a 5.8 and swap that over.

couldnt agree more with this guy.

then ditch the e7's for gt40's or better.

ok thanks for answering the question guys but right now im going to keep the 5.0 in it because i cant find find a 5.8 to buy and i dont have the money to get gt-40 heads at the moment because i just installed a camburg long travel kit on my truck

Do what Kemical said. The 5.8 is a much more powerful motor in factory trim. You mentioned a Camburg Long travel kit ($$$), don't cheap out on the motor, when you already have to do an engine swap. The 5.8 will drop right in and bolt up, they can be had cheap too. Just search around a bit.

yeah im not doing a 5.8 swap 5.8s are hard to find and gt40 heads are expensive

well, i dunno how deep your pockets are, but i picked mine out one of my local junkyards for 75 bucks for the set.
