K&N Fuel Injection Performance Kit

1992 Ford F150 Nite 4x4 5-speed 302 v8

Im debating whether or not to get the fipk or just the air filter. How much hp does the fipk give? Advertises 9.3 hp but is it really worth 300? Ive heard some people say you lose torque and/or hp. Does the engine sound more aggresive with just an air filter?

If you have $300 that you just have to get rid of go for it!!

Now more seriously a clean stock paper filter will do the job as well as anything unless the engine is highly modified and the air filter is the last bottle neck left.

Check the specs on the Trickflow and Summit cold air kits, I think they are the same.

There is/was a K&N kit for sale in the classifieds, should work as long as yours is SD and not MAF

There are NO restrictions upstream of the camshaft on a stock 5.0 truck motor, in other words... your $$ are better spent on exhaust, cam, and head upgrades... and then you might see some benefit from an FIPK.

I had an FIPK. It was a royal waste of money. My truck actually ran worse with it. Find an I6/460 tube from the air box to the radiator support. Its better than the 5.0/5.8 one.

and a K&N air filter lets more crap into the engine than a stock filter, because they are junk

That's another reason to stick with good filters like Motorcraft and Wix and Purolator.

A properly maintained K&N is a excellent filter.

a properly maintained K&N filter is only marginally better than a filter made out of cheese cloth.

when you buy a K&N filter, you are buying a name wrapped around a useless piece of junk.

well I didn't put it in and I took it to get the thing replaced with motor craft and the dip wads wont touch it "because its a K&N filter and its reuseable...but I guess I should just do it my self now LOL!!! but I do properly maintain it and follow the cleanning/recharge cycle strictly...

the funny thing is, a stock filter cleans to something like twice as good as a K&N.

some people just think that it is a good filter, and it is in a way because it lets a lot more air into the engine.
unfortunately, it lets a lot more dirt in with that air.

stock filter is something like 2 microns, and the K&N only filters to something like 5 microns.
