The other day the reverse lights on my 93 F350 stopped working. The bulbs are fine and I checked all the fuses. It ha the ZF5 trans, so Im wondering if the switch that plgs in on the side could be the culprit? Also, not sure if this is related, but I can star my truck in gear regardless of whether or not the clutch is pushed in. Could this be due to the same sensor?

 

No... The back up lights have a switch on the left (drivers) side (towards the top) of the transmission, and the clutch switch is on the clutch linkage under the dash....

 

the clutch switch could be bypassed on purpose. all mine are. . .i'd address the reverse switch and call it good.
