Question

Where did you get the new flange for the turbo?

Been getting a lot of interest on the left one. So I'll try that. I don't have much updates for the IC piping on the passenger side. All I have is pictures for installing the 3inch intake plenums.

I'm starting a new thread on the turbo R&R with the 1.0 housing. Boy was that a PITA.

V-Band Clamps & Sealing Flanges

Now don't go jumping the gun and buying it. I have to make sure it doesn't leak with the stock o-ring gasket. The fitment is.... untested.

Thank you. they say: "provides a gasketless seal" but I understand that is when you uses two of them, not one and the turbo, so we will see your results with the stock o-ring gasket.

Today I installed the 3inch intake plenums. The passenger side was a PITA. Only because of the one bolt closest to the HPOP. The one that doesn't unscrew all the way. The one where the intake plenum is supposed to be slotted so it slides under the bolt head. WELL..... this one WASN'T. FML! I had to use a dremel and a small grinding stone to grind through the metal. Then I used a screw driver and a hammer to smash it outta the way. GRRRRRRRRRR

I couldn't get my wrench on this darn bolt. So I had to grind it thinner...

Now that I got my wrench on it, the darn thing wouldn't budge. Didn't want to round off the bolt, so I got out the torch to make things all warm and loose. After I got it loose is when I noticed that the plenum wasn't slotted. FML. So i busted out the dremel....

Excelent work.
I have a couple of questions:
how did you blocked up the extra hole in the new plennum?
Is your housing coated or just painted?, looks awesome.
Why didnt you paint or coated the other part between the housing and turbo?

ps I was going to buy you the old passenger´s plennum, but not any more LOL

HAHAHA, yeah... about those extra holes... your gonna laugh at this one. I took JB weld and Dimes. Yes Dimes, US currency. I JB welded the Dimes on top of the extra holes. I know... very ghetto fabed, but this week has been crazy mod'ing this truck and I didn't want to spend any extra time on those holes. So it cost me 40 cents plus a little JB weld. LOL

The housing is ceramic coated. I didn't do the center section because I was nervous about warping the housing for the bearings. Plus, all the oil would have made it VERY difficult for the guys to ceramic coat and bake. Plus, it would have cost me a lot extra for them to clean it, bake it, clean and bake out as much oil before coating it.

If I were to do it again, I may have spent the time to get the center coated.

Yeah, that passenger plenum was a surprise. I had to choice but to destroy it.

Sweet! Everything looks good! So you're basically making an adapter to hook the bigger spider to the stock turbo?

Here's todays work. I'm tired so bare with me here.

Bought a 3foot piece of silicone tubing and cut it up my self for the couplings. Still have like 2 feet left over... still cheaper then buying all the 3inch couplings and paying for shipping and waiting.

Here's the part that clamps to the intake plenums.

Here's is a pic of it tacked together and mocked up.

Mocking up the pipes. Used an old sweetshirt to hold it up... ha. The piece with the letter "B" on it was actually a piece I cut out of the 6.0L IC piping. I ran outta store bought fittings and had to cut it up.

All welded up and couplings on.

Here is the turbo side all welded up, flange is just tacked on for fitment.

Not sure how well this is going to seal... we'll see. This picture DOESN'T show the gasket in there.

Just enough clearance

ALL DONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just need to be tore down, sanded and painted. If I had more time I'd have them powder coated. But tomorrow is injectors and chip. Can't wait till this is all done. I have to go back to work next week and need the weekend to relax.

Agreed. Great job, been trying to figure out how I want to deal with the spider if I ever get to intercooler.

PS. I want your shop!
