Exhaust Manifold Studs Broken :-(

Well it finally happened to me. I got this truck brand new (2002 F-250 Lariat CC SWB 4X4 V10) and it's only got 30,000 miles on it! I heard a slight exhaust leak so I checked it out and found that the two upper stud nuts were rusted off on both sides and possibly the lower ones also. I was wondering if I should go with the SS replacement studs or should I go with SS bolts instead of the studs? What do ya'll think? Thanks.

SS studs. I couldn't get my parts guy to look for SS nuts and washers so I went and found my own. I hear you need to check the stock logs for twisting also. good luck it's a lot of fun if you do it yourself!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't the stockers stainless? I also agree that if you have to remove the manifolds, a trip to the machine shop to have them surfaced is money and time well spent.

Neither studs nor nuts were SS on mine. The 1st ones the parts guy pulled out were black. After some poking around on fte I got the SS stud part#. But had to find my own nuts and washers.

SS Short Headers

Does anyone have any experience with this product or opinions on these? They come with all hardware and gaskets for $180 shipped. Thanks <=> FORD F250/F350/EXCURSION 6.8 V10 STAINLESS STEEL HEADER | eBay

Do a search on ebay headers.
Many have installed. Some had issues with cracking after a couple years.

i'd avoid em..

getting what you pay for and all that, dealing with cracked headers is even worse then dealing with snapped off exhaust studs.

spend the money and get a quality set of headers or just replace the studs with quality SS bolts.
