10.5in sterling rear axle oil leak
i have a '99 f250 with a rear sterling 1050in axle. there is oil on the inside of the passenger rear rim and its gear oil. does anyone have an idea of which seal could be out. and could you tell me which seal are in there, how many there are, and wear they are. i have heard it could be a scotseal and it could be a seal that's way in near the differential?

I hope it's not bad form to post a link to somewhere outside FTE (the BEST site in the world), but this is the best one I found to show the process. Need to double check PN's are the same for 10.5, but should be.

EDIT: Here's a better one:

It's on FTE and it shows an axle with disk brakes, like yours. And gives Ford PN's.

ok so i got the whole procedure down. now i need to gather parts. i would like to get them from napa. i called and tried to cross reference PNs but couldnt find any.
does anybody known the Napa part numbers for the outer seal, the o-ring, and the socket.
if not the socket, what size do i need, because on the site, there are almost five different sockets for the hub nut. so if anyone known the size of the socket, it would be appreciated.
if you don't know the PNs for the o-ring and seal, does anyone have the dimensions because he said he might be able to find the seals by their size.. thanks to anyone who can help!!

Just get a quality rear hub seal from any parts store..$25.00 each. Orings last forever. If you want new one's I think dealer only..Socket is a 4 prong one...Very common..
I just did mine.. Make sure you don't need backing plates or emerg brakes its the time to do it. Tighten nut to 60 ft lbs and back off 60 deg. Really hard to tell clicks IMO..Make a paper disc and mark off 60 deg on it. Insert into hole and mark with marker...
Any q's ask cause its all fresh in my brain. At least for a while..LOL
