Clean-up pre injection install kit replace

Hello,
I am intending to replace the o-rings and fittings for the fuel return lines with an injector install kit. The front two on either side leak when parked on a slant.
I've got the viton o-rings and the Delphi install kit. I won't forget to use the petroleum jelly on the o-rings prior to sliding over the injectors.

What would be the better ways to clean up around the exterior around the lines at the injectors prior to removing the fuel line fittings at the injectors and return line fittings?
I want to avoid contamination of the fuel system as possible. I have read that is advisable.

What chemicals if any should I use? I am working from home in the driveway.

Pre-Power Stroke Diesel (7.3L IDI & 6.9L) - Ford Truck Enthusiasts Forums Here is a link to the page for your engine, probably better to post there.
If it was me, I would use a small stiff bristle brush along with a vacuum cleaner but the guys on that other page may have better ideas.
Good luck.
