EGR failing?
2006 F250 6.0L PSD
Well i got a code today for the EGR. It was:
P0402: excessive EGR flow detected.
What should i check for? I see very little white smoke on a cold start up and i do not see any of my coolant levels going down. Only driveability problems i can think of is when towing and going up long steep hills trying to pass someone, the truck will stumble and i will get a wrench light. I have gotten a code for this, but i forget what it was. It said over/under boosted. I do not think that this has anything to do with the EGR failing though. ANy thoughts?

Here is your EGR valve--top front of the motor between the alternator and intake elbow: Page 37: Air Management System
Clean it with CARB cleaner (not brake cleaner) and keep it upright so the chemical does NOT get into the electronics. You might want to get an EGR o-ring kit. Look in the tech folder for EGR cleaning tips or search threads. They can be a bear to get out sometimes.
