93 Flareside 5.0 ignition issues

Hey all,

I'm obviously new to the site but ran into a problem last night when replacing my distributor cap. As I finished plugging the spark plug wires back in the firing order i tried to start the engine and sparks flew from my battery... all the fuses are good and the battery is still got voltage... what could be the issue?

Thanks,

Dave

Dirty/loose connection at the terminal? Did you pull the cables while servicing?

yes i checked all the connections... i took the plug wires off so i could replace the cap then put them back on according to the firing order i got from alldata and the battery terminals are nice and tight however the negative terminal needs a new bolt and nut from the looks of it... but its been starting up everyday for months now
