Water pump question

Water pump question
My water pump is dripping out the weep hole. It started it today and I don't have time tonight to replace it, however I have to tow a 24' Enclosed trailer with a medium load for about 80 miles (mostly interstate) round trip first thing in the morning. Do you think my water pump will hang on that long? Also is there any tips I should know about before I replace it tomorrow? I think I'll get one at Auto Zone, unless it is recommended to go some place better.

You should be fine. I weeped out the weep hole for months before I got around to replacing it.
Soak the bolts/studs with PB Blaster or similar as much as you can. Be very careful taking 'em off...they have a tendency to rust up solid where they go through the timing cover and into the block. You will twist 'em and they will snap and you will be pi$$ed. Don't ask me how I know.
Use that special "water pump/thermostat housing" RTV and don't be shy with it.
Replace all the hoses at the same time, including the little bypass hoses. Ya might as well while you have everything apart.
Plan on spending the better part of a Saturday to get it done.
Good luck!
