Rear Main Seal Started Leaking, pull the motor?

Finally got the headers done and gave it a few test runs through the the rpms. Lol, yeah pounded it pretty hard.

Thinking the motor is gonna need to be pulled to fix the rear seal, valve seals giving a little puff of smoke also.
What’s the easiest way to pull? I think I’m gonna have to take the wheels off and drop it down on jack stands so my motor hoist can clear the grill.

This is gonna just be a minor refresh, don’t see a need for a rebuild unless i see something really bad. What else should I replace? Timing Chains? Oil pump?

Probably save yourself some time and general pain in back side by removing the front end (grill, radiator, headlights, etc, not the fenders)

Radiator, Grille headlights, and such, yea that is how my motor went in and out. Its a good time to also throw in a new all aluminum radiator if yours is older and still has plastic tanks.

Raidators Express online has the Desert Cooler high capacity all aluminum for a really good price, no more plastic tanks to break, no more seams to split, its factory fit so stock shroud and fans fit it fine.

While its out, you might want to try wiggling the crank on the front and back, sometimes when the rear main seal has gone bad, its caused by bearing problems on the crank and if that is the case, a new seal is a bandaid and will not last.

Radiator i got: https://www.radiatorexpress.com/prod...218053/1385298

Overflow bottle: https://www.ebay.com/itm/284334689708 the also have a blue one, and i saw a black one too

Yeah i could. But doing the valve seals also it's so much easier with the motor out of the truck. An if there are any major issues with the motor it's already out and can head to the machine shop.

I would change the timing chain and oil pump and check the bearings to see what they look like. Make sure the pan isn't rusted badly.

Since you are pulling they heads anyway, you may want to do a compression check, and leakdown test before tearing it down. Not a lot more work to freshen everything up.

Getting the engine on a stand is the hardest part.
