Finally ordered a Spartan, but denied!

Any details of what Sept 1 and Jan 1 entail?
I just took my '10 in for smog inspection about 2wks ago here in CA. It took 2 guys 5 minutes hunched over my engine bay looking for the EGR right there on top. They just took a quick glance from the side of the truck for my DPF, jabbed the throttle 3 times looking for smoke and then charged me $35 for the test. Aside from that, the whole ordeal was a joke and a scam if you asked me.

The dude threw his OBD cable into the truck through the passenger side, but he never hooked it up. I was sure of that since I watched. Maybe he did that out of habit. It was purely a visual inspection and nothing else.
I'd say the smoke test was purely subjective too. He simply looked out the passenger side mirror. Depending on the background he may not see anything at all even if it did smoke a tad.

They are supposed to hook up the OBD and see if there are any code errors. If he didn't then he was being lazy or just in a hurry. The smoke test is very subjective and totally up to the tester. The outcome of the test could be decided based on how windy it is that day.
Total BS, but that's what we are stuck with.
In any case, I think the system just has a Pass or Fail button to submit to DMV.

You know, I will be honest here. I do not think that I am going to put the CAT/DPF delete on and risk a huge fine. I may just use the Spartan (if I get it) with the DPF on and sell the off road pipes. I know it defeats the purpose of the major benefits of the tuner and engine health, but I have to weigh my options. I HATE CALIFORNIA!

Yes, not sure what the purpose of that E-mail was though. Kind of confusing if you ask me! I am a little upset that I cant use the pipes. I loaded the 150HP DPF on tune and it is a night and day difference. The tranny shifts a little rough though. I am sure it has to relearn.

How can they get away with this? I mean what the hell why not make it $100,000, who's gonna stop them?
