hey the truck is a 1991 f150 351w i need step by step instructions and maybe some pictures on how to remove alternator
First un plug the wire connector going into it, then remove the upper bolt and pivot the unit to remove the fan belt from the alternator pully, remove the lower bolt, and just lift her out.
unhook the battery first. Of course you need to take the belt off, then you remove the bolts that are holding it on and unhook the wires.. Like Chris said, if you need to ask on this one, go buy a $20 manual.

Well, the manual will at least give better instructions. You may be able to pivot the alternator to get the belt off, but it's going to be a major PITA getting that top bolt back in by pivoting the alternator into place with the belt on it. It's better to use the tensioner to remove/install the serpentine belt. Slip the belt off (when removing it) one of the smooth pulleys first while you put (counter-clockwise, I think) torque on the 5/8" tensioner pulley bolt. To re-install the belt, get it on the ribbed pulleys first, then slip it over one of the smooth pulleys last while you swing the tensioner out of the way.
