01 f250 fuel mileage

Looking at a 2001 f250 4x4 with 7.3 turbo, automatic trans just wondering what kinda mileage I can expect out of it? My driving consist of mostly 2 lane country roads, some city, not much for interstates. I was seriously considering buying a 6.0 but I've heard too much bad stuff so I'm bad at looking for an old faithful 7.3's thanks

I averaged 16 mpg stock and 18 mpg now with a 60 HP tune. And yes, very reliable.

I just got 17 towing a 2000# camper in the mountains of Colo (including to 11K feet). I seem to get the best mileage keeping it under 65 on back roads. Driving it 75 on the interstate will definitely affect mileage. I get 14 in town. No significant mods (beyond those listed in the sig).

If you drive a 6.0, you will be tempted by more power and a quick-shifting 5 speed auto, but the more I drive my 7.3, the more I like it.

I was getting between 17 and 19 with my 01 until I discovered a little DP Tuner box on my porch one afternoon. Now I only get about 15 mpg but no one passes me
