Looking at a 2001 f250 4x4 with 7.3 turbo, automatic trans just wondering what kinda mileage I can expect out of it? My driving consist of mostly 2 lane country roads, some city, not much for interstates. I was seriously considering buying a 6.0 but I've heard too much bad stuff so I'm bad at looking for an old faithful 7.3's thanks
I just got 17 towing a 2000# camper in the mountains of Colo (including to 11K feet). I seem to get the best mileage keeping it under 65 on back roads. Driving it 75 on the interstate will definitely affect mileage. I get 14 in town. No significant mods (beyond those listed in the sig).
If you drive a 6.0, you will be tempted by more power and a quick-shifting 5 speed auto, but the more I drive my 7.3, the more I like it.
i can get around 17 on back roads if i drive right most of the time i get 16. but i have just fixed a fuel and boost leaks so i hope it goes up. truck in sig 285-75-16.
I get 19 on the highway on the 70 hp boost setting on my ts performance chip, same setting with 10,000lbs behind i get about 14-15 depending on how long im on the highway. best i got was 22 but that wasn't a realistic mpg
I work in a underground coal mine and My daily commute is 83 miles to our old portal whick is 2 lane country roads and 63 to our new portal with is 2 lane country roads the about 10 miles of dirt road it has oversized tires on factor wheels "there not much over factory size"
I was getting between 17 and 19 with my 01 until I discovered a little DP Tuner box on my porch one afternoon. Now I only get about 15 mpg but no one passes me
