2005 Escape AC Clutch

Hello Forum,

Post started here, serp belt tensioner suspect:
https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...04-escape.html

Now is bearing on AC clutch pulley.
Any opinions if I should replace the assembly or just the pulley with bearing bearing, or just the pulley?
I found the coil/pulley/bearing/clutch assembly for $99 (new).

Thank you,
Jim

My old 97 F150 had the pulley bearings fail. I replaced the pulley and hub and it's still running fine about three years later.

I haven't had the fun of doing the same operation on an Escape yet, so I don't know what type of space limitations might be in play. If it looks like you have enough room, I'd replace the pulley and hub and leave the coil alone.

Thanks SHO89...I bought the clutch assembly today, after market. Very good instructions for disassembly/reassembly. Coil simply prys off, presses on, so I will replace entire assembly. Nice working space on the Escape too, after removing plastic lower splash guard - doing all the work from the ground up. Will report final results.

Update - job done. New tensioner, new serp belt, new AC clutch assembly. Smooth and quiet, bearing noise gone and AC "output" perked up with new clutch. No major issues. I will admit I needed a hand with the serp belt - needed someone to hold max and constant against the tensioner while I managed the belt over the small idler pulley...just couldn't quite get it alone, with the new belt. Thanks Forum for your inputs.
