Replacing belt

my ac clutch bearing just gave way, and i don't have the time/cash to replace it. is it possible to use a belt for a non ac engine and use that?

1997 ford f 150
4.6 L

I was told you could not bypass the A/C when my bearing went!! If I remember correctly, you have to buy some kind of pulley kit.
