Dimming Instrument Lights

Dimming Instrument Lights
I have a 1999 SD 7.3 2WD. I run with my headlights on during the day. When you turn on the headlights the instrument lights and what I am most interested in is the overhead console. The lights dim so much I can't see the overhead console information even with the dimmer switch turned up all the way. I don't think there is anything wrong with it. I just don't think it's designed to be bright enough for day time driving. Is there some way to make it so the instrument lights do not dim when turning on the headlights? Maybe at the headlight switch?

Ok, who would have thought this had come up before. I did not think there were people out there as **** as I am? Thanks alot it worked great. It kind of reminded me of the movie where bomb disposal guys are cutting the last wire and is it green or blue? There are two wires that are very similar...Let me just say in the movie, I would have blown up... But I got it. On my plug it was the blue with red tracer on the end of the plug closest to the door opening...
Thanks again
