Need to add reverse lights to 7 pin connector

For our new pontoon with surge brakes I need to add reverse lights to the wiring harness to deactivate the surge brakes while backing up. What is the proper way of doing this? BTW this is on an 06 F150 XLT with factory 7 pin harness.

TIA
Mark

I have a Chariot trailer with backup lights and brakes. My 06 F-150 has the factory installed towing package with 7 pin plug. The truck activates the trailer backup lights without having to do any additional mods or wiring.

If you need a circuit tester try this one:

Spade Pin Circuit Tester 7 Way, 12V DC - Circuit Tracers - Electrical Power Testing - Test Instruments : Grainger Industrial Supply

The center tap of the 7 -pin is the place to add the back up lights or circuit

Mt question is can I just tap in to the wire running to the reverse light or do I need to tap into another source?

If it's a factory 7-pin setup, the backup lights are already there - center pin. You shouldn't need to do anything, it's already wired.
