ABS & Speedometer problems solved

Just FYI for anyone else having this problem....

I was on a long trip through west Texas and my speedometer started jumping up and down when I would hit a bump. As the trip went on it happened more frequently until after 6 hours, I rolled down my block up to my house because the transmission would barely engage. The ABS light came on about 200 miles before I coasted home. Also, the cruise control would not turn off at one point. It eventually did but it was a real surprise to find that the cruise control was on as I laid off the accelerator coming up behind a semi.

The solution: Change out the VSS on the differential. This is one of those that came out well. $45 from the dealership and about 10 minutes under the truck.

Hope this helps anyone else with the same issues.

Yep, I had to replace it about 2 years ago.

I thought about that, but the sensor went out gradually throughout the day and the new one fixed it so easily that I doubt the wiring is a problem. I also looked over the wire and it is still in good shape. If the wiring had been bad, then I would expect the sensor to fail intermittently, not gradually.
