exhaust pipe measured in OD or ID?
im looking to replace my muffler and piping with a glasspack and i am having a brainfart and cant remember if its measured in id or od

any help would be appreciated

OD

As a general "rule of thumb" tubing is sized by OD, pipe is sized by ID.
Exhaust systems are made from tubing, although many refer to them as exhaust pipes.

Yepperz, the "pipe" is measured as the OD, while mufflers are measured for the ID of the in/out, since they are *usually* a slip-on fit.

alright that answers my question thanks!

i cant get the original muffler off and i cant cut it off because its like 2 inches from the cat so looks like im just replacing the piece of pipe that is rotted away
