I know it's an old msg thread, but... what did you do about the factory tow hooks?

Wrapped up on a small pallet it weighed 296 lbs. The bumper itself weighs 262 lbs. Came with all hardware and instructions that were very good. I couldnt wait to get started so I figured I would go ahead and start taking my bumper off to see what I was getting into. That was pretty easy. I also did away with the blocker beam and cut off the brackets that held it on. I wanted the extra clearance and it looked like crap too. I was wondering if I was going to be able to get the thing on by myself considering the weight of it. I was prepared to drive around with no front bumper for a few days until I could recruit some help. But, I got it on and this is basically how I did it.

1. Turn RH bumper around.
2. Bend it over.
3. Give it a good reaming.
4. Repeat phrase "Who's your daddy?"

VOILA! Done!

Seriously, it was kind of tough but I had it on my truck within 4 hours of it being dropped off. I used 1 floor jack, 1 Hi-lift jack, 2 jack stands and all the strength I had. I was pretty proud of myself and VERY happy with the results!

I havent installed the factory fogs yet because both of mine were broken. I am ordering new ones and they will go in asap.

I love this thing. I cant wait for a deer to run out in front of me to test this thing out.
How is this holding up for you?

I've had mine a few years now. I love it.

I love my bumper. The powder coat is holding up well.

The best thing I did was to install heavy duty F350 springs, shocks, sway bars, and bushings.

I went with front springs for a snow plow because I intend to add a winch. The rear springs are also heavy duty.

Now it rides like a truck (which my wife hates).
It's much easier to keep it in a lane... but I also went pretty far from factory recommendations on my alignment.

I know mine's an OBS but wanted to come give a thumbs-up to the RH quality. Doing the CAC install and then also fuel tanks since getting the truck I've had a chance to look at mine upside-down and inside-out. When I say I have literally every receipt from the truck, i mean it. P/O was super meticulous. Granted this wasn't a pipe-fitters truck but it did get used. Truck was mainly garaged so any wear you see is from regular use. This was the "going to town" and "getting around the ranch" truck. Few spots I'll need to touch up but not many. All the hardware was just plain zinc-coated but was in good shape. 30 years on and it still looks great and I'm super impressed with that.

Original receipt

Truck had the full suite but I cut-off the headache rack. Just didn't fit me.

Regular use wear on the drivers step-board but that's it.

box top has some oxidization, that's from being out in NC sun. Handles also have a little wear from regular use.

bumper still looks great

Some mild use wear but overall in great shape

30 years ago... hand written invoices... with penmanship that is lost on today's generation... and only $45 installation fees...
