Costco has issues with my lugnuts and stripped them.
Hi, my old OEM rim were getting corroded so I decided to put winter tires on them and get new rims for my summer tires. I went with new OEM Ford rims from the dealer but acquired used lug nuts.
The folks at Costco said they used a "21" socket and it would only go over 1/2 of the lug nut and stripped it while the "22" socket was too loose. Anybody else have issue with these lug nuts? Can anyone tell what size of socket these lug nuts use.
Looks like I need to go to Ford and get some new lug nuts. Can someone confirm that the Ford part number for the lugs are: 2L3Z 1120-AA.
The rims themselves were part number 2L3Z 1007-AA.
That is because the part they put the socket on is not the lug nut. That is merely a dressy cover. The nut itself is less than half of the length of it. Like he said though, problem number one is that it isn't metric.

I take it the socket should completely cover the entire lug nut? It seems like their socket only covered the lugnut about 1/2 of the legnth.
That's what happens to that style of lug nut when someone uses a shallow socket instead of a deep to remove the nut. The top of the nut deforms, as shown in your picture, and won't allow a proper size deep socket to fit the next time. They then try a larger size deep and strip the nut.
