I don't drive a dehsul, but I know a bit about them. I don't know where you live and if cold weather is a factor, but I suspect that in the mornings its cold and in the mid day its warmer. Your glow plugs are pry not working correctly and its hard starting.
In addition, I know and have heard that once you ether something its almost addicting. Case in point, D4 cat we couldn't start it for anything this winter. We tried and tried, well turns out the previous owners loved to ether the **** out of the thing. We hit it with ether and it starts right up.

Bg I am curious as to how the air would only get into the lines in the night? I guess it could happen in that when it was started the fuel would push the air and then fuel would enter the motor. Seems plausible but I know every time I've ran a tractor out of fuel I get to fill it up and crack injectors, and crank it over...

It is a common problem with these IDIs. Leaking fuel return line caps, leaking seals in the fuel lines, or leaking return lines themselves. You get air in the system, and without cracking the injector lines, cranking it over takes a long time to purge the air.
On a side note, ether is very BAD for these engines if you do not disable the glow plugs. Even then, only a whisp of ether.

It was a joke man calm down. I know how to spell Diesel, however the method in which I spelled it reflects my accent with a southern drawl. It takes all kinds to detract and hijack this man or woman's thread....

Go to the auto parts store and get an injector install kit. It will replace the return lines and caps on the injectors. The leaking o-rings are under them and inculded in the kit. The only thing you won't use are the 8 copper washers for the injectors. Cost is around 35bucks A dental pick will help with changing them. The lines will start to leak if you bump them doing glow plugs since they are old and dried out.

Yes and No. the bellhousing is specific to a diesel but it can be unbolted from the trans, then you can get a gasser bellhousing of your choice to put in front of it
