EGR plug.

I want to either

1). Install EGR port plug and keep my current EGR valve plugged into the wiring harness to maintain correct computer operation;

or

2). Buy an additional EGR valve to plug into the harness while leaving the current EGR valve in place and disconnected from harness; with this option, will exhaust pressure push the valve open?
I have found that I can find either the port plug or an additional EGR valve for the same money. Sole reason for this is to keep soot out of engine. Don't care about mileage, etc.
Which would be best. Will this cause any other problem to arise with the cooler, etc. Also, will this cause me to have problems with too high exhast temps.

Any input would help.

what year is your truck???
I hear some years will get a egr flow code (ses light)
you may get this light with a plug or unplugged egr valve either way and would require a tunner to turn off the light
my 03 doesnt get a ses light with the egr unplugged and no fan problems

It is an '06. I was under the impression that as long as the wiring harness remained connected, the computer couldn't tell the difference.

I have heard of some people deleating the egr but leaving the egr valve plugged in so the fan operates correctly .

what codes do you guys get wwhen you unplug the egr on an 06
mines an 03 it gets no codes being unplugged in the closed position and fan operation ok

did you just have a muffler shop weld it up
sounds like a good and cheap egr deleate
it seams like a full egr deleate runs about 280.00 to 350.00 for the kit off the net
maybe I should consider this
on another thread you probably read the same one he got it off ebay and the welds leaked
I would think that you could probably pressure test with an air compress before you install the welded cooler

So the computer only reads the circuit completion and not the actuall gas flow?
